It’s Carnival Time!

We’ve thought long and hard about holding the Carnival this year, and have always been of the opinion that we will do everything in our power to bring it to you – we have a great community and such dedicated volunteers who have kept us going through some difficult and amazing times.

We feel responsible to our supply chain and businesses and the people that depend on events like ours to keep going, and we always try our best to support them.

We looked at the event in detail and although it looks like restrictions might not be as stringent by the time of the Carnival, we had to consider how we’d pull everything together without the appropriate businesses we rely on so heavily to make it work, the small time frame left available, the health & safety of the public and also that some of our committee members are NHS staff and those in the vulnerable risk category. We thought about our amazing volunteers not being able to meet safely, and our ever-growing financial commitments.

With all that in mind, we have taken the difficult decision to postpone the carnival until 2021.

We will still be here though, working on making next year’s carnival bigger and better than ever.

We couldn’t be prouder of our community, sponsors, traders, volunteers and our friends who have all been pulling together to help each other throughout these uncertain and difficult times.

Until then stay safe, stay in, look after each other, and we’ll see you all on the other side.

Best of British to you all.

The Hazel Grove Carnival Association.
